BINTULU: The Yek Min Ek Foundation has added 15 new candidates to its list of scholars this year, making it 26 including 11 from previous years.
The selected candidates will be contacted by telephone.
The foundation was set up in 1984 to assist needy students with good results to further their studies, irrespective of race or religion.
Over the past 31 years, a total of 283 students have benefited from the scholarships.
Yek Min Ek Foundation scholars do not need to repay the scholarship. However, the scholars must serve in Sarawak for a minimum of three years upon the completion of their degree.
Among those present during a press conference yesterday were the foundation’s deputy chairman Yek Siew Liong, trustees Dr Wong Ching Seh, Hii Ching Chiong and secretary Edith Yek.
